The Government of India has
ventured a massive action plan for tackling the pollution
problems of rivers through the National River Conservation
Plan (NRCP) which includes amongst others prevention and
reduction of pollution of river Sutlaj in Punjab state. The
costs for financing the schemes under River Sutlaj Action Plan
in Punjab state are borne fully by the Ministry of Environment
& Forests (MOEF), Govt. of India (GOI). Punjab Water Supply
and Sewerage Board (PWSSB), Chandigarh, is the Implementing
agency and National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD),
Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF), Government of
India (GOI) is the nodal Agency. IRAMCONSULT,
New Delhi are the consultants to PWSSB, Chandigarh.
Under an assignment from
IRAMCONSULT shall be
preparing the Engineering drawings of Sewage treatment plants
(STPs) at Ludhiana town in Punjab State under the River Sutlaj
Action Plan. The Capacity of the proposed STPs at Ludhiana is
152 MLD, 111 MLD & 36 MLD respectively. The STPs are based on
UASB technology. The scope of work for IRAMCONSULT include
preparation of layout plans, Hydraulic profiles, Civil &
Structural Engineering drawings, Electrical and Mechanical
Engineering drawings, and working drawings. The project is at
DPR preparation stage.
