Description of
the Project:
The National River Conservation
Directorate (NRCD), Ministry of Environment & Forests
formulated Godavari River Action Plan (GRAP) Project for
prevention of pollution in river Godavari stretching through
Andhra Pradesh. There are 4 towns in Andhra Pradesh where
pollution abatement schemes are being implemented. In all
these towns a major component of the pollution abatement
scheme is sewage treatment and hence Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs)
are being constructed.
Based on the requirements and
sewage generated there are 7 STPs which are being designed &
constructed in Andhra Pradesh. The NRCD is the nodal agency
for this project. The PH & ME Dept. has decided to construct 7
STPs based on UASB & Stabilisation Ponds. Out of 7, 3 STPs
shall be based on UASB technology & 4 STPs on stabilisation
ponds.
