A detailed project report was
prepared for the construction of 60 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant
based on UASB Technology under Pollution Abatement Programme
of National River Conservation Directorate.
Ujjain town where Kshipra River
Pollution Abatement Scheme is being implemented is situated on
the bank of River Kshipra in Madhya Pradesh State. The
latitude of the town 22o 49' to 23o 40' North and longitude of
75o 12' to 76o 30' East. Ujjain is well known for its
religious, social and cultural importance situated in Malwa
plateau in the heart of India. It is one of the oldest cities
of India having rich cultural and religious heritage. It was
the seat of Raja Vikramaditya and famous poet Kalidas also
endowed this place. The religious importance of Ujjain town
has been attributed to the presence of age old diety Lord
Mahakaleshwar on the bank of holy river Kshipra.
Ujjain town is also important as
an educational centre. It has Vikram University with about 25
affiliated colleges. The city occupies the important niche in
the field of Astrology. In spheres of social and cultural
activities, Kalidas Mahotsava is held every year by the
Kalidas Academy to commemorate the memory of renowned poet
Kalidas, author of the world famous work Meghdootam.
The sewage being generated finds
its way into River Kshipra. Due to unabated pollution, the
quality of river water has been deteriorated. Realising the
importance of conservation of river, a project has been
formulated. This project shall be implemented by PHED, Ujjain.
In this respect, a detailed project report has been prepared
for the approval & financing from NLCP. The DPR discusses
inventories & surveys, process & hydraulic design, structural
design, electrical & mechanical design, STP support
facilities, O&M aspects and Engineering Drawings.
