SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANTS (STPs) BASED ON UASB TECHNOLOGY
UNDER THE RIVER SUTLAJ ACTION PLAN PROJECT, PUNJAB STATE

The Government of India (GOI) has
ventured a massive action plan for tackling the pollution
problems of rivers through the National River Conservation
Plan (NRCP) which includes amongst others prevention and
reduction of pollution of river Sutlaj in Punjab State. The
costs for financing the schemes under River Sutlaj Action Plan
in Punjab State are borne fully by the Ministry of Environment
& Forests (MoEF), GOI. Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board
(PWSSB), Chandigarh, is the Implementing agency and National
River Conservation Directorate (NRCD), MoEF, GOI is the nodal
Agency. IRAMCONSULT is the consultant to PWSSB, Chandigarh.
The scope of work for IRAMCONSULT includes Design,
Detailed Engineering, Preparation of DPRs and Engineering
Drawings, Assistance in Start-up and monitoring of Sewage
treatment plants (STPs) at Ludhiana town in Punjab under
Sutlaj River Action Plan. The Capacity of the proposed STPs at
Ludhiana is 152 MLD, 111 MLD & 36 MLD. The STPs shall be based
on UASB technology. The project is at DPR preparation stage.
